Belitong UNESCO Global Geopark has officially launched its new website, marking a major step toward expanding its digital presence and connecting with both local and international audiences. The launching event took place at the Belitung Regent Office on October 1, 2025, and was celebrated as part of Belitong’s effort to strengthen its image as a world-class global geopark in Indonesia.
The website, available at https://belitonggeopark.id, is the result of a collaboration between the Belitung Regency Department of Communication and Information (Diskominfo) and the Belitong Geopark Management Body. This initiative reflects their shared mission to make information about Belitong Geopark more accessible to the public, promote its natural and cultural heritage, and support the development of geopark in accordance with 16 focus area of Geopark development.
As part of the UNESCO Global Geoparks Network, Belitong Geopark plays an important role in promoting education, conservation, and sustainable community development. The new website will serve as an informative hub where visitors can explore the island’s unique geological heritage, rich biodiversity, and diverse cultural traditions.
Visitors to the site can find a variety of useful content, including detailed information on geosites, popular articles, news updates, educational activities, and insights into the local community’s efforts in conservation and tourism. The website also provides practical resources for travelers who wish to plan their visit to Belitong, from recommended destinations to upcoming events and programs.
Beyond being a source of information, the platform is also a communication bridge. Visitors can contact the management directly through the website for inquiries about trips, research, or collaboration. This feature aims to make Belitong Geopark more open and interactive with the public, aligning with its mission to build stronger community engagement.
During the launching ceremony, representatives from the local government emphasized that the website is not only a technological achievement but also a symbol of Belitung’s commitment to sustainability, transparency, and global connectivity. Through this online platform, Belitong Geopark aims to share its story with the world, from its geological wonders and natural landscapes to the spirit of its people who work together to protect their island.
